How to use Fingerprint Generator
Calculate SHA-256, SHA-512 and legacy SHA-1 file checksums locally and compare them with an expected value.
- Choose any file to calculate its hashes automatically. Files are read in chunks in a background worker; calculation can be cancelled.
- Copy an individual checksum, copy all results, or download the hashes as a text report.
- Paste an expected checksum to compare it. Supported algorithms are detected automatically; letter case and whitespace are ignored.
What to check before using the result
A checksum compares file contents, not the author’s identity or whether the file is trustworthy. SHA-1 is provided for legacy checksum comparison. Empty files have valid hashes too.
